  • How large is your hunting area?
    Our hunting area spans about 50 square miles.
  • Is there any fishing to be done after I tag out and get my animal early?
    Unfortunately, the fishing season closes before the start of our hunting season, which typically ends on September 7 in most of Newfoundland.
  • Is there a weight restriction for the fly-in spike camp?
    Yes, the weight limit for the fly-in is 50 lbs plus your gun.
  • Are non-hunting guests welcome?
    Absolutely! Non-hunting guests are welcome to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and amenities at our lodge, including relaxing by the fireplace or exploring the picturesque landscapes.
  • Are your hunts 2×1 or 1×1?
    At our remote spike camp, hunts are exclusively 1x1 for a personalized experience. At the main lodge, hunts can vary: smaller groups may have 1x1 hunts, while larger groups might have 2x1 hunts (two hunters with one guide) until the first moose is taken, after which we switch to 1x1.
  • Is there a deposit required to book a hunt?
    Yes, a 25% deposit is required to secure your booking. An additional 25% is due three months before your hunt, and the remaining 50% is payable upon arrival.
  • Are deposits refundable?
    Deposits are non-refundable but (depending on cancellation time) can be transferred to the following year, subject to availability and at a date determined by Hideaway Lodge.
  • Why choose Hideaway Lodge over other outfitters?
    We offer a unique experience with vast hunting grounds, remote camp exclusivity, professional guides, a commitment to conservation, and personalized service. Our approach ensures a memorable hunting adventure with quality, exclusivity, and a focus on conservation.
  • How many others are in camp?
    At the Main Lodge, we host 4 to 6 hunters to maintain a small-group atmosphere. The Remote Spike Camp accommodates a maximum of 2 hunters per week for a more secluded experience.
  • Are there any additional costs?
    Additional costs may include caping services ($100 per animal), airport pickup ($75 per person), gratuities (10% to 15% of the total hunt cost), Non-Resident Firearms Possession License (approx. $25), and any optional services like meat processing or taxidermy.
